- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 cup unsalted butter (softened)
- 4 cups powdered sugar
- 2 tbsp whole milk or almond milk
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease two round cake pans (9 inches) and line the bottoms with parchment paper.
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, baking powder, and sugar until well combined.
- In another bowl, mix together eggs, milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract until smooth.
- Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined; do not overmix.
- Divide the batter evenly between the prepared pans and bake for 30–35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
- Allow cakes to cool in their pans for about 10 minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.
- In a large bowl, beat together softened butter and powdered sugar until fluffy; add milk as needed to achieve desired consistency.
- Once cakes are completely cool, frost generously between layers and cover the top and sides of the cake.
