Instructions
- Rinse the rice under cold water until the water runs clear to remove excess starch.
- In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine rinsed rice with whole milk, sugar, crushed cardamom pods, cinnamon sticks, and salt. Stir gently and bring to a gentle simmer.
- Reduce heat to low and cook uncovered for about 25-30 minutes, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking. The mixture will thicken beautifully.
- Remove from heat and discard the cardamom pods and cinnamon sticks. Stir in half a teaspoon of vanilla extract for added flavor.
