- 4 cups whole milk (or almond milk for dairy-free)
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 3 cardamom pods, crushed
- 2 tbsp rosewater
- Crushed pistachios or almonds for garnish
Instructions
- Rinse the rice under cold water until the water runs clear to remove excess starch.
- In a medium saucepan, combine the rinsed rice, whole milk, and a pinch of salt. Bring to a gentle simmer over medium heat while stirring frequently.
- Once simmering, add sugar and crushed cardamom pods. Stir until sugar dissolves completely.
- Lower the heat and cook gently for about 30 minutes, stirring occasionally until thickened but still pourable.
- Remove from heat and stir in rosewater. Taste and adjust sweetness if desired.
- Transfer to bowls or dessert glasses and top with crushed pistachios or almonds before serving.
