  • 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 4 cups powdered sugar
  • 3 tbsp milk (adjust for consistency)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease an 18×13-inch baking sheet.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking soda, and salt until combined.
  3. In another bowl, mix the buttermilk, vegetable oil, eggs, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  4. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined.
  5. Pour the batter into the prepared baking sheet and spread evenly. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  6. In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter and stir in cocoa powder until blended.
  7. Remove from heat and whisk in powdered sugar alternately with milk until smooth.
  8. Once the cake has cooled completely, frost generously with the chocolate frosting.
