- 1 cup buttermilk

- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 8 oz cream cheese (softened)
- ½ cup butter (softened)
- 4 cups powdered sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease two round cake pans.
- In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking soda, baking powder, and salt until combined.
- In another bowl, mix the oil and buttermilk. Add eggs one at a time while mixing. Stir in red food coloring and vanilla extract until smooth.
- Gently fold the dry mixture into the wet mixture until just combined.
- Divide batter evenly between prepared pans and bake for 25–30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Allow cakes to cool completely before frosting.
- Beat softened cream cheese and butter together until creamy.
- Gradually add powdered sugar and vanilla extract until you reach your desired consistency.
- Once cooled, layer cakes with frosting in between and spread remaining frosting on top.
