Ingredients

  • 9 lasagna noodles (no-boil)
  • 2 cups elbow macaroni
  • 1 cup sharp cheddar cheese, grated
  • 1 cup Monterey Jack cheese, grated
  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 4 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Cook elbow macaroni in a large pot of boiling salted water until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  3. In a saucepan over medium heat, melt butter. Stir in flour, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper until smooth.
  4. Gradually whisk in milk until thickened (about three minutes). Add both cheeses and stir until melted and creamy.
  5. In a baking dish, layer some cheese sauce at the bottom, followed by noodles, half of the macaroni mixture, and more cheese sauce. Repeat layers until ingredients are used up.
  6. Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove foil and bake an additional 15 minutes or until bubbly and golden brown.
  7. Allow to cool slightly before slicing and serving.
