Ingredients

  • 1 lb lean ground beef
  • 2 cups tomato sauce
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 15 oz whole-milk ricotta cheese
  • 1 large egg, beaten
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 9 lasagna noodles (traditional or no-boil)

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef until fully cooked. Drain excess fat.
  2. Stir in tomato sauce and Italian seasoning; simmer for 5 minutes.
  3. In a mixing bowl, combine ricotta cheese, beaten egg, half of shredded mozzarella, half of shredded cheddar, salt, and pepper; mix well.
  4. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  5. Cook lasagna noodles according to package instructions until al dente; drain.
  6. In a baking dish, spread a thin layer of meat sauce on the bottom.
  7. Layer with noodles followed by half of the cheese mixture. Repeat layers until all ingredients are used.
  8. Top with remaining mozzarella and cheddar.
  9. Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove foil during the last 10 minutes for a golden top.
