Description

Indulge in warm, gooey homemade cinnamon rolls, featuring soft dough swirled with aromatic cinnamon and topped with a creamy glaze. Perfect for breakfast or dessert!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast
  • 1 cup warm milk (110°F)
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 large eggs, room temperature
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened (for filling)
  • 1 cup brown sugar (light or dark)
  • 2 tbsp ground cinnamon
  • 4 oz cream cheese, softened (for glaze)
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tbsp milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract (for glaze)

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, combine warm milk with yeast and a pinch of sugar; let sit until frothy (about 5 minutes).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, granulated sugar, melted butter (cooled), eggs, vanilla extract, and salt. Add the frothy yeast mixture and mix until a shaggy dough forms.
  3. Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 8 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Place the kneaded dough in an oiled bowl; cover with plastic wrap or a damp towel. Let it rise in a warm place until doubled in size (about 1 hour).
  5. Roll out the risen dough into a rectangle about half an inch thick on a floured surface. Spread softened butter over the surface.
  6. In a separate bowl, mix brown sugar and cinnamon; sprinkle evenly over the buttered dough.
  7. Roll tightly into a log; cut into even pieces (about two inches thick).
  8. Place the rolls in a greased baking dish so they fit snugly together.
  9. Allow them to rise again for about half an hour while preheating your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  10. Bake for 25–30 minutes until golden brown.
  11. In a medium bowl, mix cream cheese, powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  12. Drizzle over warm cinnamon rolls before serving.
