Description
Delicious Authentic German Goulash (Rindergulasch) is a comforting dish that warms the soul with its rich flavors and tender beef, perfect for cozy dinners or gatherings.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 lbs beef chuck roast, cut into bite-sized pieces
- 2 large onions, finely chopped
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 red bell pepper, diced
- 1 green bell pepper, diced
- 2 tbsp tomato paste
- 1 tbsp sweet paprika
- 0.5 tsp caraway seeds
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Beef broth (enough to cover ingredients by about an inch)
Instructions
- Prepare Your Ingredients: Chop the beef chuck roast into bite-sized pieces and season generously with salt and pepper.
- Sauté the Vegetables: In a large pot over medium heat, add a drizzle of oil. Sauté the chopped onions until softened, about 5 minutes. Add minced garlic and cook for an additional minute.
- Brown the Beef: Increase heat to high and add the seasoned beef chunks. Brown on all sides without crowding the pan.
- Add Those Flavor Bombs: Stir in tomato paste until well coated. Sprinkle sweet paprika and caraway seeds over the mixture.
- Simmer Away: Pour in enough beef broth to cover everything by about an inch. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low. Cover and let it simmer for at least one hour.
- Final Adjustments: After simmering, taste and adjust seasoning if necessary. For a thicker goulash, simmer uncovered for an additional ten minutes.
