Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb ground beef (80/20 fat content)
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 3 sesame seed hamburger buns (one for the middle)
- 1 cup shredded iceberg lettuce
- 4 slices dill pickles
- 1/4 cup finely chopped white onion
- 2 slices American cheese
- 1/2 cup mayonnaise
- 2 tbsp ketchup
- 1 tsp Dijon mustard
- 1 tbsp white vinegar
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp onion powder
Instructions
- 1. In a small bowl, combine mayonnaise, ketchup, Dijon mustard, white vinegar, garlic powder, and onion powder. Mix until smooth and set aside.
- 2. Divide ground beef into four equal portions (about 4 ounces each). Shape each portion into thin patties slightly larger than the buns.
- 3. Use your thumb to press gently into the center of each patty to prevent puffing during cooking.
- 4. Preheat a skillet over medium-high heat. Season patties with salt and pepper before placing them in the skillet.
- 5. Cook each side for about three minutes or until browned. Just before removing from heat, place a slice of American cheese on top of each patty and cover with a lid until melted (about one minute).
- 6. On the bottom bun, spread some special sauce, then add shredded lettuce, pickles, onions, followed by one cheesy patty.
- 7. Place the middle bun on top and repeat with more sauce and toppings along with another patty topped with cheese.
- 8. Finish with the top bun. Cut in half if desired and serve immediately while warm.
