- 3–4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 tsp Italian seasoning
- 12 oz penne or fusilli pasta
- 3 cloves fresh garlic, minced
- 2 cups marinara sauce
- 1 cup reserved pasta water (optional)
- 1 ½ cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- ½ cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Season chicken breasts with salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning.
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add seasoned chicken and cook for about 5-7 minutes on each side until golden brown. Remove from skillet and slice into strips.
- In a pot of salted boiling water, cook pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside, reserving one cup of pasta water.
- In the same skillet used for chicken, add minced garlic and sauté for about one minute until fragrant. Pour in marinara sauce and add reserved pasta water if needed.
- Add cooked pasta and sliced chicken to the skillet; stir until well-coated with sauce.
- Transfer mixture to a baking dish. Sprinkle shredded mozzarella and Parmesan cheese on top. Bake for about 20 minutes until bubbly and golden brown.
- Serve hot from the oven, drizzled with extra marinara sauce.
