- 4 cups water or chicken broth
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 lb fresh or frozen shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 3 tbsp Cajun seasoning
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- Juice of 1 lemon
- 2 green onions, chopped
Instructions
- In a saucepan, bring water or chicken broth to a boil.
- Gradually whisk in stone-ground grits and reduce heat to low.
- Cook for about 20-25 minutes, stirring occasionally until thickened.
- Stir in butter, heavy cream, salt, and pepper to taste.
- In a skillet, melt half of the butter over medium heat.
- Add minced garlic and shrimp seasoned with Cajun seasoning.
- Cook until shrimp turns pink (about 3-5 minutes). Remove from heat.
- Stir in lemon juice and chopped green onions.
- Combine sautéed shrimp mixture with cooked grits over low heat until heated through.
- Serve creamy grits in bowls topped with the flavorful shrimp mixture and garnish with extra green onions.
