Ingredients
Scale
- 12 oz fresh cranberries
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
- Zest of 1 orange
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/2 cup chopped walnuts (optional)
Instructions
- Rinse the fresh cranberries under cold water until clean.
- In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine cranberries, granulated sugar, and apple cider vinegar. Stir gently until the sugar dissolves and cranberries start to pop.
- Stir in orange zest and ground cinnamon. Continue stirring until most cranberries burst open, approximately 10 minutes.
- If using walnuts, fold them into the mixture now. Let it simmer for an additional few minutes until thickened to your liking.
- Remove from heat and allow the chutney to cool completely in the pan; it will thicken as it cools.
- Transfer chutney into a serving bowl or jar. It can be served warm or chilled.
