  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/2 cup softened unsalted butter
  • 3 tbsp milk (adjust for consistency)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two round cake pans.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, salt, and sugar until well combined.
  3. In another bowl, mix the vegetable oil, eggs, buttermilk, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  4. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir gently until just combined. Divide the batter evenly between prepared pans.
  5. Bake for about 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean. Allow cakes to cool in pans for ten minutes before transferring to wire racks.
  6. Once cakes are completely cool, prepare the frosting by beating together peanut butter, softened butter, powdered sugar, and milk until fluffy.
  7. Spread frosting between the layers and on top of the cake.
