Description
Warm up this winter with tender pulled beef slow-cooked in a sweet and savory sauce, perfect for cozy family dinners.
Ingredients
Scale
- 3 pounds beef chuck roast
- 2 medium yellow onions, sliced
- 4 cloves fresh garlic, minced
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 1/2 cup ketchup
- 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
Instructions
- Preheat Your Oven: Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C) for slow cooking.
- Sear the Beef: In a large pot or Dutch oven over medium-high heat, add oil. Season the beef chuck roast with salt and pepper. Sear on all sides until golden brown, about 5 minutes per side. Remove from the pot.
- Create the Flavor Base: In the same pot, add sliced onions and minced garlic. Sauté until soft and fragrant, about 5 minutes.
- Mix Up That Sauce: In a bowl, whisk together brown sugar, soy sauce, ketchup, and apple cider vinegar until combined. Pour this mixture over the beef in the pot.
- Let It Simmer: Cover with a lid or foil tightly and place in the preheated oven. Bake for about 3 hours until the beef is fork-tender.
- Serve It Up!: Remove from oven and shred the beef using two forks right in the pot. Serve hot over rice or mashed potatoes.
